Gabriel A. Quihuis is an associate in Morgan Lewis's Tax Practice. Mr. Quihuis focuses his practice on tax planning and controversy matters and advises on a broad range of tax issues in connection with various transactional matters, including domestic and cross-border M&A transactions, financings, and restructurings. He assists with private equity fund structuring and maintenance, and advises clients regarding executive compensation issues, including issues relating to golden parachute payments, deferred compensation, and equity compensation. Mr. Quihuis also regularly advises institutional investors with respect to investments in domestic and offshore private equity and hedge funds.
Mr. Quihuis has, on a pro bono basis, obtained 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status for various charitable organizations and has drafted organizational documents for small businesses. He has also served as an individual tax return preparer under the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program established by the IRS.
Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, Mr. Quihuis was an associate in the tax practice of a large law firm in Boston, where he worked primarily on M&A transactions.
Mr. Quihuis earned his J.D. from Columbia Law School in 2007, where he was a James Kent Scholar and a notes editor for the Columbia Business Law Review. During law school, Mr. Quihuis was a judicial intern with Judge Deborah A. Batts of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. He earned his B.S., magna cum laude, in economics from Arizona State University in 2001.
Mr. Quihuis is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and Massachusetts and before the U.S. Tax Court.
