Hugh E. Tanner represents clients primarily in the oil and gas industry in complex commercial litigation. He also guides clients through federal grand jury investigations and internal investigations. Hugh appears in mediations, arbitrations, and trials in disputes that involve energy, construction, bankruptcy, professional liability, real estate, antitrust, banking, and commercial contract law. He is Managing Partner of Morgan Lewis’s Houston office and chair of the oil and gas litigation practice initiative.
With a range of experience across industries and sectors, Hugh helps evaluate, develop, and implement comprehensive records management and eDiscovery programs. His background also extends to class action suits.
For more than 20 years, Hugh has represented an oilfield and information services company that focuses on the energy industry. In this role, Hugh counsels this client on general business issues and has tried significant cases to verdict. He also assists in mediations and arbitrations that result from the company’s oilfield services operations.
