Jeffrey W. Moss is a partner in Morgan Lewis’s Litigation and Insurance Recovery Practices in Boston, with a regional and national practice. Mr. Moss focuses his practice on representing policyholders in insurance coverage disputes involving product liability/toxic torts, environmental, personal injury, and financial losses. Representative clients in the insurance coverage area include manufacturing, energy, healthcare, food and beverage, and financial services companies. Mr. Moss also has experience handling numerous product liability defense, environmental, and general commercial litigation matters.

Mr. Moss has tried bench and jury trials in state and federal courts throughout New England and in California, and has argued before the Massachusetts Appeals Court. His national toxic tort and environmental insurance recovery practice has included cases in California, Delaware, Indiana, Illinois, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and New Mexico.

Mr. Moss is admitted in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and the District of Columbia and before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit and the U.S. District Courts for the Districts of Massachusetts and New Hampshire.

  • Representation of a diversified, global manufacturing and services company in multifaceted insurance coverage litigation involving claims for insurance coverage for thousands of asbestos and silica liabilities.
  • Representation of a chemical manufacturer seeking damages for its insurer's breach of its duty to defend numerous product liability and premises liability suits asserted against the company. After a five-week trial, jury returned verdict in favor of the client, including a finding that the insurer had engaged in bad faith, thus entitling the client to multiple damages and attorneys' fees.
  • Representation of a number of manufacturing, energy, and mining companies seeking insurance coverage and reimbursement for defense and indemnity costs associated with environmental property damage and related personal injury claims.
  • Representation of an investment bank in an insurance coverage action under professional services policies seeking coverage for various suits asserted against the bank resulting from brokerage and investment management activities.
  • Representation of a transportation company in defense of a claim asserted by its insurer seeking payment of retrospective premiums under primary general liability policies.
