Joseph E. Ronan, Jr. is senior counsel in Morgan Lewis's Employee Benefits and Executive Compensation Practice. Mr. Ronan focuses his practice on employee benefit and tax issues. He has an extensive background in qualified and nonqualified compensation and retirement plans, executive compensation and employment arrangements, benefits finance matters, employee benefits and tax issues in mergers and acquisitions/dispositions, tax audit and controversy matters, state and local tax issues, tax accounting matters and tax issues affecting telecommunications and other technology companies.

Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, Mr. Ronan held the position of General Attorney - Tax at Bell Atlantic Corporation.  Since joining the firm, Mr. Ronan has worked extensively on public company and private company transactional matters (especially mergers, sales of businesses, and joint ventures) and on executive and equity compensation and other planning issues for emerging growth and technology companies, as well as benefits and tax issues for more established companies. In addition, he has worked extensively on executive employment agreements, representing employers and executives, and in international matters.

Mr. Ronan also is an adjunct law professor in the graduate tax program at Villanova University Law School, and holds leadership positions with Haverford College, Friends Select School, Philabundance, and the Philadelphia Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts.

Mr. Ronan is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania, New York, and the District of Columbia.
