FERC, CFTC, and State Energy Law Developments

Morgan Lewis partner Floyd Norton recently gave a presentation at the 2012 East Meets West Conference in Vail, Colorado. The event brings together executives from power marketers, developers, and utilities from across the country to discuss current issues in the energy industry, with a focus on renewables. In his January 25 presentation to more than 100 attendees, Mr. Norton discussed Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) developments in renewables, including FERC’s changes to the pro forma large generator interconnection agreement to accommodate variable energy resources, transmission planning and cost allocation issues, and demand response. He also gave an overview of the Dodd-Frank Act and its implications for the industry.
