2019 Technology May-rathon: CCPA – What Should I Do Now?

Not to be outdone in the privacy realm, California passed its own data privacy legislation – the California Consumer Privacy Act or “CCPA.” It requires businesses to implement new disclosures and a procedure for responding to consumer requests for information or to delete information. Now, there are two kinds of businesses: (1) those who went through a GDPR implementation and now have to go through a whole new effort; or (2) those who did not need to implement GDPR, who now have a much bigger job in front of them. Whichever group you are in, we will discuss compliance with the new California law and what might be on the horizon in California and other states.
