Gregory R. Salathé is a partner in Morgan Lewis's Business Transactions Practice. He is also Co-Managing Partner of the firm's Tokyo office and of Morgan Lewis-TMI, the firm's joint venture in Japan with TMI Associates. Mr. Salathé's practice includes cross-border mergers and acquisitions, strategic alliances, and private equity.
Mr. Salathé focuses on Japan-bound investment by U.S. corporations and investment funds, including the regulations impacting investment funds. He also represents Japanese corporations in both in-bound and out-bound investments. His transactions include strategic acquisitions, dispositions and demergers, private equity transactions, and investments in listed Japanese companies. Mr. Salathé was selected as a Leading M&A Lawyer in Japan by AsiaLaw in 2006, 2007 and 2008. Recent transactions include the 2007 Deal of the Year and the 2007 Deal of the Year - Honorable Mention selected by Asian-Counsel magazine.
Mr. Salathé received his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1993 and his B.A., with honors, from Haverford College in 1988. He has been resident in our Tokyo office for nearly five years and is conversational in Japanese.
Mr. Salathé is admitted to practice in New York and is registered in Japan as a gaikokuho jimu bengoshi (registered foreign lawyer).
