James L. Garrity, Jr. is a partner in Morgan Lewis's Business and Finance Practice and head of the firm's Bankruptcy and Finance & Restructuring Practice. Mr. Garrity represents debtors, creditors, and court-appointed fiduciaries in Chapter 11 and cross-border cases. He is a certified mediator for the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York and has mediated disputes in adversary proceedings and complex bankruptcy cases in New York and Delaware.
Mr. Garrity has previously served as a bankruptcy judge for the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. Before holding that position, Mr. Garrity was an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Southern District of New York, where he was promoted to chief of the Tax Unit focusing on bankruptcy cases.
