Morgan Lewis today announced that Robert D. Lane, Jr., a senior partner in the Real Estate Practice Group and former Real Estate Practice Group Leader, has been named President of the Philadelphia Bar Foundation, the charitable arm of the Philadelphia Bar Association., effective January 1, 2005.

Mr. Lane has represented a wide variety of corporations in many industries, as well as major real estate developers, syndicators and REITs. Over the years, Mr. Lane’s clients have included major healthcare institutions, large international restaurant and retail chains, one of the world's leading telecommunications companies, and a U.S. government lending institution. Mr. Lane has guided many Fortune 100 companies in developing their major corporate facilities across the country. Many of these companies have multiple locations both in the U.S. and abroad. Mr. Lane has also focused on the development of facilities for specialized corporations in the media, retail and petroleum industries.

A leader in a wide array of local governmental, professional, and charitable organizations, including serving as President of Central Philadelphia Development Corporation’s Board of Directors since 2001, Mr. Lane has lectured and written extensively on a variety of real estate subjects, including commercial leasing, zoning and land use, boundary law, real estate taxation, and real estate development. In a 1999 survey by Philadelphia Magazine, he was recognized as one of the best real estate lawyers in Philadelphia. Mr. Lane has also been named as a "Leading US Attorney" by Chambers and Partners, under the category of Real Estate, in the 2003 and 2004 Chambers USA, America's Leading Business Lawyers Directory.
