San Francisco, March 29, 2005: Morgan Lewis announced today that William H. Kimball, previously with United States Attorney's Office for the Northern District of California, will be joining Morgan Lewis in San Francisco as a partner in the Litigation practice group. He joins Leslie Caldwell, John Hemann, and Lisa Tenorio-Kutzkey all former members of the Enron Task Force, as well as the recent top white collar additions in the firm's Philadelphia office, to further bolster the Morgan Lewis' strong nationwide White Collar and Securities defense practice.
Mr. Kimball was until recently an Assistant United States Attorney in the Northern District of California, which he joined in 2000. In this capacity, Mr. Kimball worked with Ms. Caldwell and Mr. Hemann in the nationally-recognized securities fraud unit formed by then United States Attorney Robert S. Mueller. He also was selected to serve as a member of the DOJ Enron Task Force from 2002-2003, where he investigated obstruction of justice by Arthur Andersen LLP, and helped investigate several of the transactions that are currently the subject of criminal charges against Enron executives including Jeffrey Skilling and Kenneth Lay. Prior to joining the Department of Justice, Mr. Kimball worked from 1993-2000 at the SEC Division of Enforcement in both Washington, DC and San Francisco. Before joining the SEC, he worked for three years as a litigation associate at Davis, Polk & Wardwell in New York.
Mr. Kimball enjoys an excellent reputation both in the securities enforcement and white collar criminal bars. He has handled sophisticated financial accounting fraud cases on both the civil and criminal enforcement sides in addition to his work on Enron. During his government tenure, he handled cases involving California Micro Devices, Kendall Square Research, and Octel Corp. He has recognized and respected by the bar and has spoken on numerous panels relating to criminal enforcement of the securities laws, Sarbanes-Oxley, internal corporate investigations, and related matters.
Mr. Kimball clerked for the United States District Court in Charlottesville, and is a 1988 graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law, and holds a BA from the University of North Carolina.
The addition of Mr. Kimball, with his significant trial experience, further enhances Morgan Lewis' litigation practice, which has significant bench strength across offices.
