Discussion of Priority Issue IV: The IRO and other Monitorships

This session will examine the expectations under a corporate integrity agreement (CIA) as well as the requirements to engage an independent outside expert (referred to as an independent review organization or IRO) that must review and assess various systems, policies, and procedures of companies subject to a CIA.
The panelists will discuss how to prepare for and manage these engagements and approaches to dealing with IROs. By understanding CIA requirements and the dynamics with the IRO, companies are better prepared for this process and more focused on the scope of these reviews. In addition, deferred prosecution agreements and even some CIAs are now requiring engagement of independent monitors that are much more intertwined with ongoing business activities and decisions. Presenters will also provide more information on the role of these monitors and help manage these engagements.
