The Tax-Cut Compromise and Its Impact on Your Workforce

Wednesday, December 22, 2010
12:00 PM - 01:00 PM Eastern Standard Time

Please join Morgan Lewis for a one-hour webinar discussing the new federal tax bill being addressed by Congress (the Tax Relief, Unemployment Insurance Reauthorization, and Job Creation Act of 2010) and its significant impact on expiring benefits provisions that directly affect your workforce.

While most of the media focus has been on the compromise between extending the Bush-era tax cuts and extending unemployment benefits, the compromise legislation contains other important provisions that, if enacted, will directly impact your workforce and their benefits.

Along with a summary of the overall changes made by the bill, the following specific changes will be addressed:

  • Temporary employee Social Security rate reduction
  • Educational assistance plans
  • Tax-favored commuting
  • Employer-provided child care
  • Adoption assistance programs
  • Payroll withholding
  • Year-end plan limits
  • FICA tax on severance pay and SUB pay
  • Tax treatment of employer-provided cell phones

Presenters:
Mary B. Hevener
David R. Fuller
Timothy P. Lynch
