The New Model for UK Enforcement: The UK Bribery Act, Enforcement Changes, and Proposed Whistleblower Incentives

Thursday, February 6, 2014
11:30 AM - 12:30 PM Eastern Standard Time

Litigation partners Nick Greenwood and Kevin Robinson will speak during “The New Model for UK Enforcement: The UK Bribery Act, Enforcement Changes, and Proposed Whistleblower Incentives,” a West LegalEdcenter webinar co-hosted by Morgan Lewis and the Ethisphere Institute.

With the introduction of the UK Bribery Act in 2010 and the UK’s National Crime Agency (NCA) in late 2013, enforcement strategy is undergoing even more change. The UK government has a new model set on improving the anitbribery/anticorruption regime, with a consolidated effort by the Serious Fraud Office, the Financial Conduct Authority, and the newly formed NCA. These changes suggest a more rigorous approach to policymaking and anticorruption enforcement efforts. During this one-hour webinar, the panelists will discuss what these changes mean for global businesses operating in the UK as well as what inside counsel and compliance officers need to know now.

Topics will include:

  • The key components of the Bribery Act
  • A comparison of the Bribery Act and the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act
  • The interagency antibribery/anticorruption efforts
  • The role of the newly formed NCA
  • The proposed reporting mechanism and whistleblower incentives
