Morgan Lewis’s Public Interest and Community Service (PICS) program for summer associates is intended to encourage the pro bono commitment in our most junior lawyers. In this program, summer associates can choose to forgo the traditional full-summer law firm experience by working alongside Morgan Lewis lawyers for the first half of the summer and in a full-time assignment with a nonprofit organization for the second half. Regardless of which option is selected, summer associates receive compensation for the entire 10-week program from the firm.
In 2006, our summer associates were placed at the following organizations.
- American Civil Liberties Union
- Asian Pacific Islander Legal Outreach
- Bar Association of San Francisco’s Volunteer Legal Services Program
- Center for Constitutional Rights
- Center for Justice and Accountability
- Chicago Volunteer Legal Services Foundation.
- East Bay Community Law Center
- Education Law Center
- Federal Public Defender for the District of Columbia
- Local Initiatives Support Corporation
- NAACP
- National Public Radio
- Nature Conservancy
- Neighborhood Defender Service of Harlem
- New York Lawyers for the Public Interest
- Philadelphia Museum of Art
- Prince George's County Public Defender
- Sanctuary for Families
- San Francisco Public Defender
- South Texas Asylum Project
- Support Center for Child Advocates
- Yosemite National Institute
- Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts
- Washington, D.C. Public Defender
- Washington Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights & Urban Affairs
We are pleased that our lawyers apply the same entrepreneurial spirit to pro bono practice development as they do to client development. As a result, many have developed close attorney-client relationships with significant public interest organizations.
