For some time single direct secondaries (transactions when one investor takes over the position of another to give investee companies some runway for value creation) have been common practice in private equity but have so far been comparatively rare in the world of venture.

As European venture starts to produce substantial companies with greater regularity, and at a time when public markets are still hesitant to commit to emerging companies, single secondaries and recapitalisations in particular are now happening more frequently. Increasingly larger venture funds are taking over the position of earlier stage investors and private equity investors are bringing their financial firepower to take companies to substantial exits.

This seminar looks to explore these themes in more detail as well as establishing the importance of single secondaries in venture and how market participants can take advantage of this tool for value creation.
