Almaty Office

Morgan Lewis established an office in Almaty, Kazakhstan, in 2012 with the addition of lawyers from a prominent international firm that began operating in the region in 1995. The office represents clients in the region encompassing Kazakhstan, Central Asia, and the Caspian.

The Almaty office is spearheaded by Aset A. Shyngyssov, who has more than 15 years of experience handling complex transactions in various industries, including oil and gas, energy, and banking throughout Kazakhstan and elsewhere in Central Asia.

The office builds on its extensive international/cross-border M&A transactions, oil and gas, and banking practice. The transactional capabilities focus on significant mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance, securities issuances, and joint ventures.

Capabilities in the office also include project finance, capital markets, private equity, real estate, regulatory, tax, corporate governance/compliance, intellectual property, and competition law matters.
