Stephanie L. Sweitzer is an associate in Morgan Lewis’s Labor and Employment Practice. Ms. Sweitzer regularly counsels employers on and defends employers against lawsuits and administrative complaints involving federal, state, and local labor and employment laws, including the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Fair Labor Standards Act, the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act, and state and local wage and hour laws.

Ms. Sweitzer also counsels employers on litigation avoidance, union avoidance, personnel policies and procedures, employee handbooks, executive employment agreements, independent contractor agreements, severance agreements, and restrictive covenants. She conducts training on federal, state and local employment laws. In addition, Ms. Sweitzer counsels U.S.-and foreign-based companies on cross-border transactions and cross-border employment issues. She has represented multinational employers in global restructuring and reductions in force.

Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, Ms. Sweitzer was an associate in the labor and employment group at a leading international law firm.

Ms. Sweitzer received her J.D. from Cornell Law School in 2003, where she was the acquisitions editor for the Cornell Journal of Law and Public Policy. She received her A.B. in English and political science from the University of Michigan in 2000.

Ms. Sweitzer is admitted to practice in Illinois and Michigan and before the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Iowa, the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Michigan, the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota, and the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Missouri.
