Daniel E. Chefitz is a partner in Morgan Lewis's Litigation Practice. Mr. Chefitz represents businesses in connection with environmental, asbestos, toxic tort, patent, trademark, product liability, and contractual disputes, with an emphasis on insurance coverage advice and litigation.

Mr. Chefitz represents policyholders in various types of insurance coverage disputes, including coverage for patent, copyright, and trademark claims; environmental damage claims; asbestos product liability claims; toxic torts; welding rod claims; advertising injury claims; and first-party claims. He also advises policyholders regarding rights and obligations, with respect to shared insurance and captive insurers.

Mr. Chefitz represents the interests of insureds in bankruptcy proceedings to protect and maximize insurance assets, with a particular focus on issues concerning the issuance of channeling injunctions under Section 524(g) of the bankruptcy code.

Mr. Chefitz also has successfully litigated or settled environmental and toxic tort lawsuits and administrative actions for clients in the automotive, railroad, and aerospace industries, using settlement trusts established under Section 468b of the Internal Revenue Code when appropriate.

Mr. Chefitz is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia, Illinois, and Massachusetts.
