Alicia Villarreal is a partner in Morgan Lewis's Litigation Practice. Ms. Villarreal's practice focuses on commercial litigation, corporate compliance, and internal investigations. She has investigated and prosecuted violations of federal white collar crimes for more than 14 years, with matters including public corruption, corporate fraud, healthcare fraud, defense contractor fraud, bank fraud, tax fraud, and national security matters requiring a Top Secret - Sensitive Compartmented Information ("TS-SCI") security clearance. Ms. Villarreal also has an extensive background in the conduct of joint investigations between the Securities and Exchange Commission and Civil and Criminal Divisions of the U.S. Attorneys' Office.

Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, Ms. Villarreal worked in the U.S. Attorney's Office from 1992 to 2006, where she conducted numerous long-term jury trials and supervised and trained Assistant U.S. Attorneys in conducting complex fraud trials and grand jury investigations. She served as Deputy Chief of the Public Corruption & Government Fraud Section from 2001 to 2004. Most recently, she was appointed as Senior Litigation Counsel in the Central District of California, in which capacity she reported directly to the Chief of the Criminal Division and was assigned to handle the office's most sensitive and complex matters.

Ms. Villarreal received her J.D. from the University of Texas School of Law in 1989, her M.P.A. from the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs at the University of Texas at Austin in 1989, and her B.S.W. from the University of Texas in 1985.

Ms. Villarreal is the founding president of the Mexican American Bar Foundation, a non-profit charitable organization she established in 1991 to increase diversity in the legal profession by awarding scholarships to Latino law students and introducing inner-city school students and their parents to the legal profession through mock trial programs.

Ms. Villarreal is admitted to practice in California.
