Robert J. Gaybrick is a partner in and co-chair of Morgan Lewis's Intellectual Property Practice. Mr. Gaybrick's practice focuses on licensing, negotiations, litigation, patent procurement and portfolio development, opinion work, and counseling concerning electrical, computer, semiconductor, display, automotive, and mechanical technologies for domestic and international clients.

Mr. Gaybrick was a technical advisor to Judge Phillip B. Baldwin of the Court of Customs and Patent Appeals and entered private practice in 1979. From 1983 to 1986, he was a foreign law consultant in a Japanese law office in Tokyo. Before joining Morgan Lewis to start its patent practice in 1994, Mr. Gaybrick headed the 40+ lawyer electrical patent group of a major Washington, D.C. intellectual property firm.

Mr. Gaybrick is frequently consulted on intellectual property strategies. He has engaged in more than 100 patent licensing negotiations and transactions, many involving the top electronics companies in the world. He has conceived and executed numerous portfolio license initiatives, including a $150M+ licensing program of computer-related intellectual property. He has been engaged in numerous patent litigations throughout the United States and § 337 investigations before the U.S. International Trade Commission on behalf of both complainants and respondents. He is a frequent lecturer on intellectual property topics in the United States and Asia. Prior to his legal career, Mr. Gaybrick was a computer engineer for Burroughs Corporation.

Mr. Gaybrick is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia and before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
