Robert L. Cooney, Jr. is a partner in the Real Estate Practice at Morgan Lewis. Mr. Cooney regularly represents clients in acquisitions and dispositions, commercial leasing, build-to-suit projects, brownfields projects, joint ventures, and financings, including structured finance transactions. Mr. Cooney also collaborates regularly with the Private Investment Funds Practice in connection with real estate fund formation and real estate fund investments.
Mr. Cooney's clients include REITs, pension funds, and privately held real estate companies. He also represents Fortune 500 companies and nonprofit organizations with significant real estate holdings.
Mr. Cooney is actively involved in pro bono and civic matters as well. He is a board member and pro bono counsel to the Chester Community Improvement Project, a nonprofit housing developer. He is also a board member for The Arts & Business Council of Greater Philadelphia.
Mr. Cooney is a former member of the Executive Board of the Real Property Section of the Philadelphia Bar Association and a current lecturer for the Pennsylvania Bar Institute.
Mr. Cooney received his B.A. from Swarthmore College, his M.B.A. from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, and his J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School.
Mr. Cooney is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
