Maria S. Swiatek is a partner in Morgan Lewis's Intellectual Property Practice. Ms. Swiatek's practice includes strategic patent counseling with particular emphasis on competitive analysis, patent portfolio development and procurement, licensing, and infringement matters in a broad range of technologies. These technologies include semiconductor equipment, devices and processes, telecommunications, chemical processes, energy technologies, solar cells, material science, medical devices, and life sciences.

Ms. Swiatek's IP transactional work includes due diligence investigations for the semiconductor, telecommunications, and chemical industries, as well as acquisition, license, and joint development agreements. 

Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, Ms. Swiatek was a partner in the technology group of a large international law firm. Prior to entering private practice, Ms. Swiatek served as IP counsel for Watkins-Johnson Company, a Silicon Valley electronics and semiconductor company, where she was responsible for all IP aspects of the company.

Ms. Swiatek earned her J.D., with distinction, from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law in 1992 and her B.S. in chemical engineering, with a minor in materials science, from California Polytechnic State University, Pomona in 1986.

Ms. Swiatek is admitted to practice in California and before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and the California Supreme Court.
