Heather Scanlon Gelfuso is an associate in Morgan Lewis's Labor and Employment Practice. Ms. Gelfuso's practice focuses on defending clients before state and federal courts against claims of employment discrimination and retaliation, as well as employment-related federal and state law claims. She also represents clients before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and state/local fair employment agencies.
Ms. Gelfuso's experience includes all aspects of employment-related litigation, including serving as second-chair defense counsel in a jury trial in federal court. She also has a background in employment counseling, which includes advice and counseling on employment litigation avoidance, workplace restructurings and reductions in force, employment policies and employee handbooks, employment agreements, and best employment practices.
Ms. Gelfuso earned her J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center in 2003, where she was a business editor on the American Criminal Law Review and served as a law fellow with the Legal Writing Department. She earned her B.A., cum laude, from the University of Massachusetts in 1998.
Ms. Gelfuso is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia and Massachusetts.
