John T. Hood is a partner in Morgan Lewis’s Business and Finance Practice. Mr. Hood focuses his practice on corporate finance, securities law, corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and general corporate matters. He primarily focuses on the energy and utility industry. He has been involved in a wide variety of financial transactions, including debt and equity offerings, private placements, public offerings, structured finance, and bank lending transactions.
Prior to joining Morgan Lewis in 2008, Mr. Hood was a partner at a national law firm, where he advised clients on corporate and financial issues relating to the utility industry, including joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, the restructuring of the electric utility industry, and the securitization of utility costs. He also advised clients regarding their restructuring and bankruptcy needs.
Mr. Hood also has experience on project financing and leveraged lease transactions of utility facilities, including nuclear power plants, coal-fired generating stations, combustion turbines, cogeneration facilities, and stand-by reservoirs.
Mr. Hood received his J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, Boalt Hall School of Law in 1979 and his A.B. from the University of Arizona in 1976, where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
