Akiba Stern has advised clients for more than 25 years in all aspects of business law both as in-house counsel and at law firms. Mr. Stern concentrates his practice on outsourcing, information technology-enabled business transactions, internet matters, electronic commerce, technology transfers, licensing, intellectual property, and joint ventures.
The Chambers USA and Chambers Global Leading Lawyers guides commented that with his "long track record" in the outsourcing field, the "smart and savvy" Akiba Stern is "well-known and respected" for his outsourcing work. Examples of transactions that Mr. Stern has completed include a global finance and accounting outsourcing for a prominent food and beverages company, a strategic alliance between a major investment bank and a credit card issuer, a large offshore applications outsourcing transaction for a major investment bank, a significant desktop outsourcing transaction for a major insurance company, a large multinational full-scope outsourcing transaction for a leading pharmaceutical company, a global strategic technology alliance between a multinational bank and one of the leading internet portals, and a license agreement permitting the application of one of the world's best known trademarks to consumer electronics.
When working on complex, long-term sourcing and services arrangements, including outsourcing transactions and strategic alliances, Mr. Stern helps his clients structure, negotiate, and implement commercial strategies, alliance structures, pricing models, governance arrangements, change management protocols, contract administration, and supplier compliance strategies.
