Brian P. O'Donnell

Brian P. O’Donnell is an associate in Morgan Lewis's Intellectual Property Practice. Mr. O’Donnell focuses his practice on trademark, copyright and unfair competition litigation, and counseling. In addition, he assists clients on trade secrets, right of publicity, data privacy, e-commerce, and patent and domain name dispute resolution proceedings.

Mr. O’Donnell is knowledgeable in the clearance, prosecution, and maintenance of trademarks worldwide and management of global trademark portfolios. He has participated in trademark opposition and cancellation proceedings before the U.S. Trademark Trial and Appeal Board and the Canadian Intellectual Property Office; and he has directed trademark investigations in the United States, Canada, and China. Mr. O'Donnell also has tried pro bono felony cases in state criminal court and counseled a variety of nonprofit organizations on intellectual property issues.

Mr. O’Donnell earned his J.D. from Loyola University Chicago School of Law in 2001, where he served as managing editor for the Loyola Consumer Law Review. He earned his M.Sc. in international relations from the London School of Economics in 1995 and served as an editorial board member of its Millennium Journal of International Studies. Mr. O’Donnell earned his B.A. in political science from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana in 1994 and his Kurzzeitstudiumzertifikat from Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg in 1993.

Mr. O'Donnell is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia and Illinois and before the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, and the Supreme Court of Illinois.
