Saema Somalya is an associate in Morgan Lewis's Business and Finance Practice and a member of its Securities Group. Ms. Somalya's background includes advising various financial institutions and issuers on public and private securities transactions; compliance with securities regulation, including the Securities Act of 1933 and the Securities and Exchange Act of 1934; and general corporate matters.
Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, Ms. Somalya worked as a securities lawyer in New York, London, and the Silicon Valley. She counseled both large- and small-cap issuers as well as financial institution clients in connection with domestic and global offerings of equity and debt securities under the Securities Act and under Rule 144A, Regulation S, and other exemptions to the Securities Act.
Ms. Somalya earned her J.D. from Yale Law School in 2002, where she was notes editor of the Yale Human Rights and Development Law Journal and an Olin Fellow. She earned her B.A., magna cum laude, in political science (international relations) from Yale University in 1999, where she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. Ms. Somalya is fluent in English and Gujarati and is a proficient speaker of French, Urdu, and Hindi.
