Gary M. Gex is an associate in Morgan Lewis's Intellectual Property Practice. Mr. Gex focuses his practice on IP litigation and patent prosecution.
Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, Mr. Gex was employed at Intel Corporation, a leading semiconductor firm, where he was an engineer and project manager on test hardware and software projects and on factory process control and data collection systems for boards and systems manufacturing. In addition, he worked on computer chipset simulations and quality issues. While there, he received recognition awards for ISO 9001 and 9002 certification efforts and for a multi-year project for bringing factory data systems into year 2000 compliance.
Mr. Gex earned his J.D. and a high-tech law certificate in intellectual property law from Santa Clara University School of Law. While in law school, Mr. Gex served as a judicial extern to Judge Ronald M. Whyte of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, where he was heavily engaged in a synchronous memory device patent infringement litigation. He also was an articles editor for the Santa Clara Computer & High Technology Law Journal, and he won awards for excellence in technology licensing studies and oral advocacy in Moot Court.
Mr. Gex earned his M.S. in computer science in 1995 and his B.A. in philosophy in 1989 from California State University, Sacramento.
Mr. Gex is admitted to practice in California and the District of Columbia and before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
