Etienne Drouard is an associate in Morgan Lewis's Business and Finance Practice. Mr. Drouard focuses his practice on intellectual property, information technology, online services, and data protection. He has an extensive background in mergers and acquisitions; commercial agreements; public procurement and regulatory proceedings involving IP/IT issues, notably trademarks, copyright, and software and database protection; e-government services, e-commerce, and marketing; data privacy and consumer protection; technology and outsourcing agreements; digital signature; dematerialization; cryptography; whistleblowing; cyberwatch; and cybercrime.

Mr. Drouard also assists companies and public bodies in litigations and regulatory matters at French, European, and international levels on counterfeit, Internet liability, defamation, internal and external fraud, antitrust, and unfair competition.

Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, Mr. Drouard was an associate for seven years at one of the largest French law firms, where he focused on all aspects of IT/IP law, with an emphasis on data protection and negotiation and drafting of technology agreements. Prior to that, he was a public officer at the CNIL (French Data Protection Authority) for three years, where he gained experience in personal data management and health services, as well as in banking and regulatory compliance issues (SOX, discovery, etc.). He previously worked with the U.S. National Security Agency (NSA) for one year on electronic networks surveillance.

Mr. Drouard earned his D.E.S.S. in international business law from the Université de Bourgogne, Dijon in 1994. He is fluent in French and English.

Mr. Drouard is admitted to practice in Paris.
