Michael S. Kraut is a partner in Morgan Lewis's Litigation Practice. Mr. Kraut's practice focuses primarily on complex securities enforcement and litigation matters. He represents registered investment advisers, broker-dealers, hedge funds, public issuers, and their officers and directors in securities class action litigation, arbitrations, and investigations conducted by the U.S. Department of Justice, U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, self-regulatory organizations, and various state securities regulators. Mr. Kraut also counsels clients on conducting internal investigations and on regulatory and compliance issues.
Mr. Kraut recently served as vice chair of the Pro Bono Committee for the New York office, where he worked to develop and implement a pro bono strategy for that office. In connection with the firm's pro bono program, he was seconded to the City of New York Law Department for several months during which he tried a number of jury trials, achieving complete defense victories in the only two cases that went to verdict.
Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, Mr. Kraut was a judicial intern for Judge Kevin T. Duffy of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.
Mr. Kraut earned his J.D., cum laude, from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 1999 and his B.A., with high distinction, in political science from the University of Michigan in 1996.
Mr. Kraut is admitted to practice in New York and before the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York.
