Christopher Hitchins is a partner in Morgan Lewis’s Labour and Employment Practice. Chris’s practice focuses on employment law and transactional pensions matters. He advises on all areas of contentious and noncontentious employment law, in particular cross-border and international matters such as global outsourcings and M&A transactions and cross-border redundancies.
Chris also advises on day-to-day employment issues such as executive hiring, retention, and severance; office/plant closures and other layoffs; Employment Tribunal and High Court litigation matters; employment disputes and grievances; negotiating dismissals and compromise agreements; as well as designing management incentivisation plans, including drafting and advising on approved and unapproved share option plans, EMI's, restricted stock, and executive bonus plans.
In addition, Chris advises on transactional, refinancing, and restructuring pensions issues, in particular the impact of the moral hazard provisions, the role of the Pensions Regulator, negotiating with trustees, running clearance applications, and advising on liability management exercises.
Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, Chris was counsel in the Benefits and Compensation Practice of a large international law firm.
Chris received his LPC from the College of Law of England and Wales, Chester in 1996 and his BA in law from the University of Sheffield, England in 1995.
Chris is admitted to practice in England and Wales as a Solicitor.
