L. Julius M. Turman is of counsel in Morgan Lewis's Labor and Employment Practice. Mr. Turman has tried to verdict, jury and bench trials, and has defended management in wrongful termination and employment discrimination litigation, including race, sex, age, disability, sexual orientation, religious and hostile environment harassment. He has successfully represented companies in actions for unfair competition, violation of public policy and common law tort claims, and state and federal wage and hour litigation.
Mr. Turman counsels, writes about and conducts trainings for employers on the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Uniform Trade Secrets Act, the California Business and Professions Code, the Family and Medical Leave Act, employee terminations, workplace violence, pre-employment screening, employment agreements, workplace investigations and discipline, restrictive covenants, trade secrets and unfair competition, and drug and alcohol testing.
Mr. Turman has represented employers from a variety of industries in federal and state court and administrative agency proceedings. He is a former assistant U.S. attorney.
Mr. Turman received his J.D. from Rutgers University School of Law in 1992 and his B.G.S. from the University of Michigan in 1987. He was the recipient of the Earl Warren Scholarship, the J. Kelly Wright Scholarship and the Herbert H. Tate Scholarship.
Mr. Turman is admitted to practice in California, New York, and New Jersey and before the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Second, Third and Ninth Circuits and the U.S. District Courts for the Northern, Eastern, Central and Southern Districts of California, the Northern, Eastern, Central and Southern Districts of New York and the District of New Jersey.
