Zeenat Basrai is an associate in Morgan Lewis's Labor and Employment Practice. Ms. Basrai represents employers in all aspects of single plaintiff and class action employment litigation in both state and federal courts, including wrongful termination, harassment, retaliation, discrimination, whistleblower and wage and hour claims.
Ms. Basrai represents clients from diverse industries and has been involved with representing financial service clients in Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (formerly NASD) arbitrations. She also counsels clients regarding a wide range of employment law issues, including restrictive covenants, employment and separation agreements, compliance with wage and hour laws, federal and state family leave laws, and general employee relations matters. In addition to advising and defending corporate clients, Ms. Basrai works pro bono for nonprofit and charitable organizations.
Ms. Basrai earned her J.D. from Stanford Law School in 2005, where she was co-president of the Stanford Asian Pacific Islander Law Students Association. While in law school, she interned at Justice Now, an organization proving legal services for women in prison; the Alliance for Children's Rights; and Community Legal Services in East Palo Alto. Ms. Basrai earned her B.A., cum laude, with a dual major in government and literature from Claremont McKenna College in 2002.
Ms. Basrai is admitted to practice in California, New York, and New Jersey and before the U.S. District Courts for the Northern, Southern, and Central Districts of California and the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey.
