Rafik Mattar is an associate in Morgan Lewis's Labor and Employment Practice. Mr. Mattar's employment practice includes defense of wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and wage and hour disputes, including class action defense. As a prior commercial litigator, his background includes a broad array of multijurisdictional and complex commercial disputes, unfair competition claims, and matters involving contract disputes, with a specific emphasis on class action litigation. Mr. Mattar has practiced before state and federal courts throughout the country and has been involved in all aspects of litigation—including pretrial discovery, motion practice, pretrial preparation, and case resolution.
Mr. Mattar received his J.D. from Northwestern University School of Law in 2003, where he was the executive editor for the Journal of International Law and Business. While in law school, Mr. Mattar was recognized for excellence in trial advocacy through his participation with the school's national trial team, and served as an extern to Judge Gary L. Taylor of the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California. He received his B.A. from the University of California, San Diego in 1999.
Mr. Mattar is admitted to practice in California and before the U.S. District Courts for the Northern, Southern, Eastern, and Central Districts of California and all California state courts.
