Afzalah Sarwar is an associate in Morgan Lewis's Litigation Practice. Afzalah's experience includes both commercial litigation and arbitration. She has acted for a broad range of clients, including investment banks, private equity companies, and multinationals. Afzalah has represented clients in relation to banking disputes involving multiple jurisdictions, worldwide cartel investigations, professional negligence, misrepresentation, and insurance disputes.

Representative matters include:

• Acting for a large investment bank in relation to a $200 million multijurisdictional dispute involving claims for fraudulent and negligent misrepresentation against another bank, following the collapse and insolvency of the borrower.
• Acting for a major global airline in connection with worldwide cartel investigations into the air cargo industry and specifically managing the evidence gathering process in Brussels with regard to the European Commission's investigation.
• Acting for a global office supplies business in relation to a multimillion pound insurance claim where the claimant insurers are seeking to avoid coverage under both local and DIC policies; advising client of jurisdictional issues where client is seeking to queue/stay English proceedings behind US proceedings in circumstances where it has already submitted to the jurisdiction of the English courts.
• Acting for the respondent in a UNCITRAL arbitration relating to a claim for breach of contract.
• Acting for the claimant in an ICC arbitration relating to the breach of an agency agreement.
• Acting for the claimant in relation to a claim for negligent misrepresentation involving the sale and purchase of a business.
• (Pro bono) Acting for a group of 12 beneficiaries based in Serbia in connection with an intestate estate in circumstances where the assets were transferred to the Crown as bona vacantia.

Afzalah earned her Diploma in Legal Practice, with distinction, from the College of Law of England and Wales, Guildford in 2002 and her LLB (Hons) from University of London, King's College London in 2001.

Afzalah is admitted to practice in England and Wales as a Solicitor.
