Michael A. Benz

Michael A. Benz is an associate in Morgan Lewis's Business and Finance Practice and a member of the Private Investment Funds Practice. Mr. Benz represents private funds both in fund formation and investments. These funds include domestic and non-U.S. hedge funds, private equity funds, and funds of funds. He also provides counsel to major financial institutions, investment banks, and other institutional investors in their roles as sponsors of and investors in private equity funds. Mr. Benz has also represented clients in mergers and acquisitions (including joint ventures, spin-offs and strategic alliances).

Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, Mr. Benz was an attorney fellow at the Institute for Justice, where he litigated on behalf of entrepreneurs and private property owners as a participant in Morgan Lewis’s Public Interest Fellowship Program.

Mr. Benz received his J.D., with a specialization in business law, from the University of California, Los Angeles School of Law in 2009 and his B.A, magna cum laude, in psychology and English from the University of Pennsylvania in 2006.

Mr. Benz is admitted to practice in New York.
