Meghan Cherner-Ranft is an associate in Morgan Lewis’s Labor and Employment Practice. Ms. Cherner-Ranft counsels and represents employers in the full spectrum of labor and employment law matters. Her litigation matters include individual, multi-plaintiff and class and collective action litigation and administrative actions under federal and state statutes, such as Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Older Workers Benefit Protection Act, the Equal Pay Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, the New York State and New York City Human Rights Laws, the Fair Labor Standards Act and the Sarbanes-Oxley Act. Ms. Cherner-Ranft’s practice includes representing financial services organizations in arbitration matters before the National Association of Securities Dealers, involving claims of wrongful termination, breach of contract, U-5 defamation and for recovery on employee forgivable loans and promissory notes. Ms. Cherner-Ranft also provides clients with day-to-day counseling and advice on a wide range of employment issues, such as internal investigations of employee misconduct, hiring and discharge, contract disputes and compliance with state and federal laws governing the workplace.
Ms. Cherner-Ranft earned her J.D. from Northwestern University School of Law in 2003, where she served as the note and comment development editor of the Northwestern University Law Review. In 1999, she earned her B.A., magna cum laude, in both political science and women's studies from Bates College, where she was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa.
Ms. Cherner-Ranft is admitted to practice in New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania and before the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, and the District of New Jersey.
