James E. Bayles Jr. is an associate in Morgan Lewis’s Labor and Employment Practice. Mr. Bayles focuses on the representation of management in complex class action and single-plaintiff litigations under the various State and Federal anti-discrimination laws. He also counsels employers on compliance with the Federal Occupational Safety and Health Act and its state analogs, and represents them at all stages of administrative enforcement, from initial investigation through appellate review of citations.

Mr. Bayles is co-author of Chapter 30 (the Occupational Safety and Health Act) of the Employment Law Desk Book for Human Resources Professionals (West 2001). He is a member of the Occupational Safety and Health Law Committee of the American Bar Association’s Labor and Employment Law Section.

Mr. Bayles received his J.D. from the University of California, Berkley, Boalt Hall School of Law where he was an associate editor of the California Law Review. He earned his M.B.A. and his B.A., Phi Beta Kappa, from the University of Chicago in 1988 and 1987, respectively.

Mr. Bayles is admitted to practice in Illinois.
