Jonathan M. DeGooyer is an associate in Morgan Lewis's Litigation Practice. Mr. DeGooyer's practice focuses on complex commercial litigation and representing securities broker-dealers, investment managers, and other financial services companies in all aspects of litigation and regulatory matters.

Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, Mr. DeGooyer was an associate in a leading nationwide law firm. There, Mr. DeGooyer focused on complex commercial and intellectual property litigation. He represented companies and individuals in multi-claim actions including trademark and trade-dress infringement, dilution, copyright infringement, trade-secret misappropriation, unfair competition and complex business disputes. He also handled domestic and foreign trademark prosecution, including filing applications for registration, responding to office actions, and maintenance of existing registrations. He advised clients and attorneys on trademark and copyright matters including rendering opinions on clearance of trademarks, initiating, consulting and supervising Trademark Trial and Appeal Board opposition proceedings. Mr. DeGooyer also negotiated and drafted license and settlement agreements involving intellectual property assets.

Mr. DeGooyer earned his J.D., cum laude, from the University of San Francisco School of Law in 2002. While in law school, he received the J. Thomas McCarthy Intellectual Property/CyberLaw Certificate, with honors. Mr. DeGooyer also has worked extensively in governmental and legislative affairs. Prior to attending law school, he was director of Congressional Relations for The American Association of Private Practice Psychiatrists (AAPPP) in Washington, D.C. In addition, he successfully represented the Association on Capitol Hill, monitoring and analyzing federal legislation, and lobbying House and Senate staff on the Association’s behalf. Mr. DeGooyer earned his B.A. in government from Skidmore College in 1993.
