Rachael Catherine Chan is an associate in Morgan Lewis's Litigation Practice. Ms. Chan focuses her practice on patent litigation. She has represented clients in a variety of industries, including diagnostics, pharmaceutical, semiconductors, and computer software, and has litigated cases in both state and federal court, and at the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC). She also has experience in prosecuting trademarks.

Ms. Chan has handled several pro bono matters, including those resulting in a grant of asylum for a physically and sexually abused young woman and a grant of social security benefits for a disabled and indigent elderly client. She also represents indigent tenants facing eviction in negotiation settlements.

Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, Ms. Chan was an associate at an international law firm, where she focused her practice on patent litigation.

Ms. Chan earned her J.D., magna cum laude, and her high technology law certificate with a specialization in intellectual property, from Santa Clara University School of Law in 2009. While in law school, she served as senior production editor and as an executive board member of the Computer and High Technology Law Journal. Ms. Chan also received CALI Awards in Legal Research and Writing and in Business Associations, as well as the Witkin Award in Constitutional Law II and in Federal Courts and Jurisdiction. She earned her B.S., summa cum laude, in biology from the University of Massachusetts, Boston in 2001.

Ms. Chan is admitted to practice in California and before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of California.
