Yalei Sun is an associate in Morgan Lewis's Intellectual Property Practice. Mr. Sun provides legal services to clients from various industries including semiconductor design/processing, computer hardware/software, medical imaging, and telecommunications. His practice includes patent prosecution, patent infringement and invalidity analyses, and due diligence investigation in conjunction with business transactions.
Mr. Sun began his legal career in 2002 as a patent agent at Pennie & Edmonds LLP, where his primary responsibility was patent prosecution. Before entering legal practice, Mr. Sun worked as a software engineer at two large software companies in the Silicon Valley.
Mr. Sun received his J.D. from Santa Clara University School of Law in 2005, where he conducted extensive research on the Chinese patent law practice and published two articles on this subject.
Mr. Sun received his M.S. in geophysics from Stanford University in 1999. While a Ph.D. student at Stanford University, Mr. Sun conducted four years of advanced research in the field of 3-D seismic imaging. He received his M.S. in solid mechanics from Tsinghua University, China in 1995 and his B.S., with honors, in engineering mechanics and electronics & computer science from Tsinghua University, China in 1993. Mr. Sun is fluent in Chinese and English.
Mr. Sun is admitted to practice in California and before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
