Todd B. Buck, Ph.D. is an associate in Morgan Lewis's Intellectual Property Practice. Dr. Buck's practice involves all phases of patent law, including prosecution, opinion work, litigation, and transactional matters. Dr. Buck has experience in patent prosecution, including managing worldwide biotech and chemical patent portfolios, preparing and prosecuting utility patent applications before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, prosecuting international applications, and procuring foreign patent rights internationally.
In addition, Dr. Buck's counseling practice includes working with emerging growth companies to develop complete domestic and international biotech and chemical patent portfolios. His counseling practice also includes providing freedom-to-operate, patentability, invalidity, infringement and noninfringement analyses, and assessments, including opinions used in preparing Paragraph IV certifications for Abbreviated New Drug Applications.
Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, Dr. Buck was a founding member and served as the managing partner of a Washington D.C. intellectual property law firm, where he managed patent portfolios for pharmaceutical and biotech companies.
Dr. Buck received his J.D. from George Washington University Law School in 2003. He received his Ph.D. in pharmacology and toxicology from the University of Georgia, College of Pharmacy in 1999. During his graduate career, Dr. Buck was awarded a fellowship from the National Cancer Institute of the National Institutes of Health, where he completed his doctoral research and subsequently held a post-doctoral position. Dr. Buck's research involved the generation and use of transgenic animals and other molecular and cell biology techniques to study the molecular mechanism of tumor initiation and growth, particularly tumor angiogenesis. He received his B.S. in biology from Oglethorpe University in 1992.
Dr. Buck is active in the intellectual property area and has spoken throughout the world on various topics concerning U.S. biotech intellectual property law.
Dr. Buck is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia and Virginia and before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
