Christine R. Friar is an associate in Morgan Lewis's Litigation Practice. Ms. Friar concentrates her practice on complex commercial litigation matters, with particular emphasis on environmental defense, tort, and insurance recovery litigation. Her experience includes defending corporate clients in the waste management, oil and gas, manufacturing, and maritime industries in cases involving air, soil, and groundwater contamination arising from underground storage tanks and landfill, manufacturing, vessel, and port operations.

Ms. Friar’s experience also includes representing corporate policyholders in complex national coverage disputes. She has handled coverage disputes involving claims under property and casualty, directors & officers, fiduciary liability, employment and comprehensive general liability policies. She has litigated coverage cases at both the trial and appellate level.

Ms. Friar has been involved in state and federal court litigation in numerous jurisdictions across the country. She has defended and prosecuted claims involving alleged personal injuries, property damage, violations of federal and state environmental statutes such as CERCLA and the HSAA, unfair business practices and breaches of contract, warranty, and fiduciary duty. In addition to participating in arbitration proceedings before the AAA and JAMS, Ms. Friar has successfully resolved disputes through mediation.

Ms. Friar received her J.D. in 2003 from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law, where she served as senior editor of the Berkeley Journal of International Law. She received her B.A., with highest distinction and Phi Beta Kappa, in history from the University of California at Berkeley in 2000.
