Workforce Strategy: Leading Ideas for Managing Talent in the 21st Century - Part 2

By Philip A. Miscimarra, Peter Cappelli

Welcome to Morgan Lewis's Workforce Strategy Podcast Series, offered in conjunction with the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.

In this second in a series of three podcasts, Morgan Lewis Labor and Employment partner Philip A. Miscimarra continues his interview with author Peter Cappelli, the George W. Taylor Professor of Management and director of the Center for Human Resources at the Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania.

Professor Cappelli discusses some provocative findings in his recent management research on corporate talent strategies. He outlines how much of the tactics in place today addressing talent management originated in the 1950s and are basically ineffective for a 21st-century workforce.

This dialogue references Professor Cappelli’s new book, Talent on Demand: Managing Talent in an Age of Uncertainty, published by Harvard Business School Press in 2008. Also look for Professor Cappellli’s article published in the March 2008 issue of Harvard Business Review,Talent Management for the 21st Century.”
