Employee Free Choice Act Introduced in the House and Senate
Published on: 03/10/2009The much-anticipated Employee Free Choice Act (EFCA) was introduced today in the House and the Senate. The development comes after heavy speculation last week that Democrats were preparing to again push the legislation. As discussed in the Morgan Lewis LawFlash issued March 4, 2009, passage of EFCA in the House is all but assured. The Senate vote could, however, prove much more difficult for the proponents of the legislation. As part of an ongoing effort to bolster support, Democrats on the Senate's Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee scheduled a hearing for today focusing on the "benefits" of unionization.
