Mark Dichter and Grace Speights, partners in Morgan Lewis's Labor and Employment Practice, were quoted this week on the landmark Supreme Court decision in Ricci v. DeStefano, a reverse discrimination case in which the Court found that a group of white firefighters in New Haven, Connecticut were unfairly denied promotions because of their race, thus reversing a lower court's decision.
Mr. Dichter was quoted in the Associated Press article "Supreme Court: White Firefighters Bias Victims," commenting on the potential impact of the decision in future reverse discrimination cases.
Ms. Speights was quoted in the Employment Law360 article "Firefighter Ruling Raises Bar For Disparate Impact," stating that the case "may be one of the most significant opinions the court has issued in the last 25 years regarding the appropriate consideration of race in employment decisions."
