Morgan Lewis In the News
LEPG partner Steven Wall was interviewed for a law firm profile in the February 8 issue of Employment Law 360. In the profile, Mr. Wall described BellSouth's reasons for hiring Morgan Lewis's Labor and Employment Practice Group as their lead counsel when it was hit with a proposed race discrimination class action suit four years ago.
Mr. Wall cited three contributing factors for BellSouth's decision. First, "BellSouth's team exemplifies [Morgan Lewis's] integrated approach to serving clients which further distinguishes [us] from our competitors," he stated. Despite not having offices in BellSouth's hometown of Atlanta or in the State of Alabama, where the case is located, "BellSouth hired us because they believed that the team we had put together could best serve its purpose."
A second contributing factor was Morgan Lewis's size and the scope of its practice, particularly with regard to our employee benefits litigation issues. "None of the multinational firms have anywhere near the capacity we have in the employment and employee benefits litigation area," Mr. Wall said. The reporter further referenced Morgan Lewis's and the LEPG's size and scope worldwide.
The third factor was Morgan Lewis's excellent reputation. Mr. Wall said, "Our brand gives comfort to in-house lawyers that select Morgan Lewis to handle sensitive client matters because they know about our prior results."
