Morgan Lewis Strengthens Litigation Team in Philadelphia
PHILADELPHIA, PA, April 6, 2009: Morgan Lewis today announced the addition of two partners to its Litigation Practice, resident in the firm's Philadelphia office. Matthew Siembieda and Timothy Katsiff—whose clients include Fortune 500 companies in the financial services, telecommunications, and healthcare industries—joined the firm from Blank Rome LLP, where Mr. Siembieda was a senior litigator.
"Both Matt—who has led bet-the-company litigation teams in a broad range of areas—and Tim share our commitment to excellence and client service," said James D. Pagliaro, leader of the Litigation Practice at Morgan Lewis. "Their trial experience, along with their ability to counsel corporate boards and management on litigation avoidance and strategy, will serve our clients well as companies face mounting scrutiny in today's difficult economic environment."
Mr. Siembieda has more than 30 years of experience in complex commercial litigation. He serves clients in a wide range of litigation areas, including patent and trade secret, environmental, commercial and securities fraud, insurance coverage, white collar defense and RICO, creditors' and debtors' rights, class actions, contract disputes, and internal investigations, as well as providing general counseling to companies on litigation issues relating to acquisitions and competition.
Mr. Katsiff's practice focuses on complex commercial litigation, with an emphasis on civil securities and class action litigation. He has represented numerous public companies and their directors and officers in the defense of securities class actions and derivative actions. Mr. Katsiff also has represented audit and special committees of boards of public companies in internal investigations of financial reporting and related conduct, as well as public companies, broker-dealers, and individuals in SEC and SRO proceedings. In addition, he represents clients in other complex litigation matters, including business torts, class action litigation, intellectual property (trade secrets and patents), environmental litigation, insurance coverage, and banking.
At Morgan Lewis, Messrs. Siembieda and Katsiff join a litigation team that spans 18 offices worldwide and comprises more than 700 litigators covering a full spectrum of industries.
Before entering private practice, both were judicial law clerks. Mr. Siembieda served as a law clerk to Senior Judge William Hastie of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit from 1970 to 1972. Mr. Katsiff served as a law clerk to Senior Judge John P. Fullam of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania from 1994 to 1995.
