Morgan Lewis to Open Delaware Office

Friday, May 28, 2010

PHILADELPHIA, May 28, 2010: Morgan Lewis today announced that it will open an office in Wilmington, Delaware on June 1, 2010. With 600 of the Fortune 1000 incorporated in Delaware, the first state’s courts are among the nation’s busiest for corporate litigation of all types. Led by Colm F. Connolly, a former U.S. Attorney for the District of Delaware, the firm’s Delaware Practice will include a core group of lawyers based in Wilmington and in nearby offices who represent a wide range of Delaware clients, litigate frequently in the Delaware courts, and handle transactions involving Delaware interests.

“Our lawyers have been quite active in a variety of litigation matters in the Delaware courts for many years, and we have concluded that we will be in a better position to serve our clients and expand our practice if we establish an office there,” said Firm Chair Francis M. Milone.

“I am thrilled to return to Wilmington to help the firm expand over time the scope of services we provide to clients in Delaware—particularly in industries in which we have very deep practices and client relationships, including the pharmaceutical, technology, and medical device industries,” added Connolly.

Attorneys in the firm’s Delaware Practice have successfully represented companies and individuals in some of the state’s most significant government enforcement actions. Morgan Lewis also acts as counsel to the special committees that are increasingly employed by corporations to review interested director transactions, examine perceived conflicts among officers and directors, and conduct internal investigations. From Wilmington, Morgan Lewis will offer clients both command of the local legal and business environment in Delaware and access to the firm’s resources across 23 national and international offices.
