TOKYO, October 28, 2008: Morgan Lewis recently announced the addition of Satoru Matsuo, a lawyer with more than 25 years of law firm and corporate experience, as an Intellectual Property partner in its Tokyo office. Matsuo’s arrival reflects Morgan Lewis’s continued commitment to meeting the legal needs of its clients in Japan, where the firm combines its international resources with the skills and knowledge of its Japanese joint venture partner, TMI Associates—one of the largest law firms in Japan.

Most recently, Mr. Matsuo practiced for 10 years in the New York and Tokyo offices of Morrison & Foerster LLP. He focuses his practice on IP litigation and has experience in a broad range of technology licensing, patent litigation, and other intellectual property matters. Mr. Matsuo’s practice also includes complex business litigation, including product liability cases, as well as assisting Japanese clients with U.S. discovery.

Prior to entering private practice, Mr. Matsuo served as general counsel of Uniden Corporation for five years, where he was in charge of managing all of the company's legal work, including license negotiations and other contract, litigation, and patent matters related to telecommunications technology. Before joining Uniden, he was a member of the legal and intellectual property group of Fujitsu Limited for 13 years, handling patent license negotiations and IP litigation matters, including a successful defense against the Kilby patent.

Mr. Matsuo received his LL.M. from Columbia University Law School in 1989 and his LL.B. from Kyoto University, Japan in 1980. Mr. Matsuo speaks and writes frequently on intellectual property topics. For additional information, view his bio at http://morganlewis.com/bios/smatsuo.
